SAIREM’s INTLI technology opens new horizons for the extraction of delicate biological- or vegetal-specific molecules
The LABOTRON is a modular system based on the INTLI technology which brings remarkable performance to the microwave-assisted extraction. Thanks to the INTLI technology, the microwave-assisted extraction becomes a credible alternative method for the improvement or replacement of the currently used extraction technologies - e.g. using supercritical fluids, high pressure - which often limit the results.
For low value-added products like essential oils, the INTLI technology enables the preservation of the most fragile molecules, without adversely affecting the efficiency of the extraction process or the quality of the product. The process can be carried out in continuous flow or batch mode.
The principle of the microwave-assisted extraction is to bring, very selectively, a great quantity of energy inside the biological or vegetable cells such that it causes the extraction of the interest compound without degrading their properties.The advantages of the INTLI technology are:
- High density of radiated power inside the biomass up to several kW/L;
- Microwave energy can be selectively concentrated inside the biomass by using a solvent relatively transparent to microwaves;
- Extraction can be also carried out in aqueous media;
- The external cooling via a metallic jacket can maintain the biomass and the extraction products at very low temperatures to avoid the degradation of the delicate products;
- Continuous flow or batch mode process;
- Possibility of quick-adapting several types of reactors – standard or custom made, with or without mechanical stirring - on the same microwave head;
- PLC-based controller and touch screen user interface; all system functions and status, including recipe changes, alarms and chemical levels are accessible from the touch screen display;
- On-line reagents addition and products removal & sampling;
- Based on a mobile platform for quick installation and positioning.
For higher production or test capacities, SAIREM can offer the possibility of using the pilot-scale test facility with microwave power levels up to 100 kW, 915 MHz, treatment capacity of up to 700 L/h . |
