What is a radio frequency generator?

A radio frequency generator is designed to generate and send radio frequency energy. This RF energy is used to heat products, and radio frequency generators are, therefore, mainly used in thermal processes. They can be used in various sectors for many applications, such as in the food industry to temper and defrost food or in laboratories to create plasma.

 

Radio-frequency generators are available as standalone solutions or can be integrated into complete radio-frequency systems as required.

How does a radio frequency generator work?

“Dielectric loss” is at the heart of radio frequency technology: this phenomenon is caused by the vibration and rotation of polarised molecules inside the material, induced by the quick polarity reversal of the electromagnetic field (a million times per second).

 

A radio-frequency system consists of a RF generator which transforms electric power into radio frequency waves, and electrodes which ensure the transmission of the waves to the product.

RF generators can offer the perfect solution to improve thermal processes in different industrial sectors. They also represent an energy source than can be used for scientific applications.

 

Radio frequency generators are ideal to improve heating and drying processes. Are RF generators safe?

Radio frequency is a form of electromagnetic radiation, which may suggest that it is dangerous. But as it is non-ionizing radiation, its effect does not last over time.

 

Furthermore, SAIREM and all RF systems in general are closed and fitted with interlocks to prevent radio frequency leakages.

Our 50 Ω technology is unique in guaranteeing the perfect stability of the frequency and real power control during the process. Moreover, 50 Ω technology avoids reflected power and extends triode service life up to 20 000 h and 60 000 h, if you choose solid state generators (no triode, no high voltage).

 

Finally, for layout purposes, 50 Ω technology means that the generator and applicator can be positioned several tens of meters apart.
